Enrique's Shadow - Searching for my Brother for 25 years
Enrique's family has been searching for him for over 25 years. He went missing during the conflict between the FARC rebel fighters and the Colombian government.
He is seeking asylum in the UK. Antoni was living in the Vanni, in Sri Lanka, with his wife, Ranjini, their children, Antoni’s mother and Ranjini’s sister. When the fighting came closer to their village Antoni and his family were forced to evacuate.
This comic is an excerpt from ‘The Vanni’ a graphic novel depicting one family’s personal stories from Sri Lankan Conflict between the Sri Lankan Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
Packed together with the many other people fleeing conflict they faced many horrors. The fighting continually caught up with them. Shells fell all around and they were injured and starving. There was no escape as they were surrounded by conflict on all sides.
Antoni has lost his son, Michael, his Mother and his sister-in-law Priya is missing, he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and is separated from his wife and daughter.
